my short and sweet summer.

oh! hello blog! i forgot you existed, blog. this summer has been far too short. but its been a good one.

it started with girls camp. this year was my 4th year, so i got to go on the "high adventure" at the beginning of the week. we went canoeing for 6 whole hours! wow! can you say sore arm muscles? not to mention none of us wanted to sit down....we were all sore from the canoe seats too! we camped out.....hot and sticky night! and that was followed up by a day of boating. the rest of the week was finished off with classes, skits, certification, zip lining, etc. fun fun week. a month later, i went to efy. which was about 2 weeks ago. efy, id have to say, is my favorite week of the month. so many great people who share the same standards as you! and so many classes to go to taught by amazing teachers. and not to mention my amazing counselors, becky and jonny! i learned so much from them! also, can i just say i met some of the most amazing people there? i made some really good friends at efy-tamsin, shantelle, rachel, vashni, and maddie. i wish they lived close!!! i miss them so much!

this summer we have gone to utah twice, and we still have one more trip next week. that makes four times this year. the first time we went was right before efy. we drove up. we drove through new mexico, and also flagstaff, and up through central utah all the way to provo. LONG!!!! we went on route 66, to the grand canyon, and lets not forget the exciting indian reservations we drove across! who am i kidding? those are the most boring places on earth. promise. while in utah we visited with grandma and grandma stutz once again. on the way home we stopped by the cadillac ranch in amarillo.

the second time we went this summer was this past weekend. we flew up sunday morning at eight thirty. we had a layover in denver, and almost didn't get on the plane to slc. luckily we did. we went to the viewing of out great grandfather stutz. what a wonderful man. the funeral followed on monday morning, and this morning we flew home at six am. its been a long day.

sigh. this is my last official week of summer. because next week begins the three week marching camp. HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT. did i mention its hot out there? i guess thats what happens when you go outside for four hours in august in houston. its hot. im looking forward to learning the formations, its just the heat and the sore muscles that im not looking forward to AT ALL. oh well. this week i have to read 2 books and write dialectical journals over them. woot woot.

this summer has been far too short. but its been a good one.

1st semester.

Wow. At the end of this week I can officially say I am 1/8 done with high school. I love high school so much more than junior high. Even though there is a lot more stress and more late nights, I love all the things you can be involved in! For one, BAND. I LOVE BAND. Yes, I am a band geek and am proud to admit it! Band is great because you are around hilarious people the whole time! Everyone dreads marching practice, but riding the bus and going to football games and contests are SOOOO worth it! Aside from band, I am in basketball. Ugh. I really don't like it that much. I mean, games can be fun, but only if the WHOLE team plays well. Because some people don't always play their best and it frustrates me. Another thing for the record is that I now have made a B on a report card. Yes, that's right, a B. Sigh. Thank you geometry. Hopefully I will do well on the final tomorrow and raise it up. More to come, I'm off to bed!

story of my life. at least, my high school life! ever since school has started i dont think i have gone to bed before like 10 or 1030! i dont get home until at least 530 which means starting my homework around 6 or later. homework, lots of it.
it is the end of marching season, our last game was yesterday. very bitter sweet. i love marching, i love football games, but i am glad the practices are over with. now i dont have to stress over the conflict between overlapping basketball and band practices. well, only once a week anyways. for region sectionals.
this week has been rather unusual. i didnt have much homework. loved it. so much. oh so so much. i did have a paper to write and geometry and such, but i dont think i had a single night this week where i had more than two hours of homework! it was GREAT.
today was long. i got to bed last night around midnight and woke up at 8 this morning to do what but chores until 12. then we had a baby shower. tonight we went to chick fil a so parker could play on the playground. and now i am typing this because even though i know how very tired i am i dont really want to go to bed.
tomorrow after church we have super BYC. we get to plan the combined activities for next year. and dad is not here. which means the ym president is in charge. which means the voting system is monopolized and we will probably end up having paintball wars and what not. hooray. not. I LOVE SEMINARY!
